Make a finger frog puppet! Free template in Activity Sheet 7 below this item. This little frog was designed to use with the song “Finger Frog” in the Kindescope songbook Maths, More or Less. The song is written to help children’s awareness of position. You will find templates for two sizes so you can have one too! Pop the frog on your index finger and he can leap in front of you, behind, next to, near to etc. etc. If you have the song, listen out for the froggy croaks!

If you need a good recipe for play dough, read on!

Commercially sold play dough is fine but it is much cheaper to make your own. The following recipe is for dough that will stay fresh for a long time but it does need keeping in an airtight bag or container.

Use a mug, (1/2 pt or 300ml) throughout

2 mugs of plain flour

1 mug of salt

3 tablespoons/45ml cheap cooking oil

2 teaspoons/10ml of cream of tartar

2 mugs of water

Food colouring (optional) add before heating, according to depth of colour required Mix all ingredients together in saucepan and stir the “goo” continually over a low heat until it forms stiff dough. Allow to cool and knead well. Important- Do not add any further flour once the dough is made, not even for rolling out. Store in a tied plastic bag or airtight container. Put the used pan in cold water at once for easy cleaning.
